Wrinkles

Wrinkles are folds or creases that appear as people get older and their skin becomes less elastic. The first lines appear on a person’s face, where the skin naturally folds during facial expressions. They also appear early and more intensely at places more exposed to the sun, such as the face, neck, back of arms, and feet. With the current advancement in techniques and technology, wrinkles and lines can be prevented and treated to a large extent.

NON INVASIVE PROCEDURES

HIFU - High-Intensity Focussed Ultrasound.

It is a non-invasive means of facial sculpting and tightening.

Have you ever wondered how suddenly your skin has started looking aged? When did those fine lines and lax skin become part of your identity? Why does it not seem taut and shiny like before ??

Well, this is how ageing looks! A wrinkle here, a fold of skin there!

But why are we bothered about it now? How were the earlier generations dealing with this? Well, the answer is one that you would not like. We have started ageing earlier, almost by a decade !! OOPS

The increasing stress, the want to excel, those extra hours spent in front of the desk, that one more hour of sleep compromised, all this has cumulatively aged us earlier.

Well, don’t worry. Science is progressing at a rate faster than your age !!

Indications

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Eyebrow lift
  • Cheek contouring
  • Double chin removal
  • Jawline enhancement
  • Improves skin elasticity

HIFU Mechanism of Action

HIFU is a procedure that brings about a non-surgical facelift. The ultrasound waves thus heat up the cells and cause controlled cell damage that stimulates collagen production in the long run. Collagen is the primary protein that maintains skin tightness and elasticity. Hence, its increased production helps to deal with fine lines, wrinkles and lax skin.

The energy emitted acts directly on the deeper layers of the skin, such that the outermost visible layer of skin remains unaffected.

Procedure

  • The treatment area is prepared under aseptic measures.
  • A topical numbing cream is applied to the concerned area.
  • Energy is set according to the degree of severity and the site involved.
  • The probe is used in regular motions for the required amount of time at a particular area to generate adequate heat energy for collagen stimulation.

There is minimal downtime in the form of mild post-procedure redness that subsides on its own in a few hours.

A single cycle consists of two sessions, 2 weeks apart. The results are maintained for 6 months.

When to start?

As the saying goes, prevention is better than cure, so why hide or camouflage a wrinkle when you can prevent one?

Start early. Start safe. Start non-surgical.

Exilis Elite

Exilis Elite is a medical device that uses radiofrequency (RF) technology to deliver energy to the skin's deeper layers in a non-invasive manner.

The treatment is popularly used to address BODY CONTOURING and SKIN TIGHTENING, including the reduction of wrinkles and fine lines in areas such as:

  • Face
  • Jawline for Double chin
  • Neck
  • Arms for flabby skin
  • The abdomen for tummy fat
  • Flanks for love handles
  • Thighs for cellulite and fat
  • Back for bra rolls

When used for the abdomen, Exilis can help to reduce stubborn fat pockets, tighten the skin, and improve the appearance of stretch marks.

When used for post-pregnancy wrinkles, it can help improve the skin's texture and tone, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and enhance the skin's youthful appearance.

The technology works by heating up the deep layers of the skin, stimulating collagen production, and causing the skin to contract, which results in a tighter, smoother appearance.

It is also a non-invasive, quick, and relatively painless procedure with little to no downtime.

However, it is essential to note that Exilis Elite is not for everyone and should only be administered by a qualified and experienced practitioner. Exilis is not a weight loss treatment and should not be used as a substitute for proper diet and exercise.

Total Clearlift

Clear lift laser treatment is an FDA-approved state-of-the-art anti-ageing laser treatment. The benefit of clear lift laser treatment is that it is non-ablative, there's no peeling of the skin, and it's safe for all skin types. Treatment requires minimum to no downtime, and it's a effective way to renew the skin surface.

As the facial skin is the most exposed to external factors, the effects of ageing are seen the most on the face. Collagen is the most essential protein that keeps the skin firm, glowing and young looking. When the production of collagen decreases, fine lines and wrinkles start to appear.

Clear lift laser uses Q-switched 1064 nm energy, making it capable of reaching the deepest layers of the skin up to 3mm. The laser beam reaches various depths of the skin and causes micro-injuries in superficial or deeper layers. When these micro-injuries are caused, the skin starts to produce new and healthy collagen as a natural response. Thus, the skin starts to look younger, and in the end, it looks rejuvenated and naturally enhanced.

It’s especially effective in the following:

  • reducing lines and wrinkles
  • improving hyperpigmentation
  • making the skin firmer
  • improving skin laxity.

INVASIVE PROCEDURES

Bot-uli-num toxin

Bot-uli-num toxin is a purified form of a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium Bot-uli-num. It is used medically and cosmetically to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines temporarily.

When injected into specific muscles, Bo-to-x works by blocking the release of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. This prevents the muscle from contracting, thus reducing the dynamic wrinkles caused by repetitive muscle movements. Thus it can smooth out wrinkles, particularly those formed by facial expressions such as frowning or squinting.

Bo-to-x is commonly used for areas such as forehead lines, frown lines between the eyebrows, and crow's feet around the eyes. However, its usage and effectiveness may vary depending on individual factors, so it's best to consult with a qualified medical professional, such as a dermatologist, to determine if Bo-to-x is suitable for your specific concerns.

Bot-uli-num toxin (Bo-to-x) is considered safe when administered by a qualified medical professional, such as a dermatologist. However, it's important to discuss your medical history and any potential contraindications with your dermatologist before undergoing treatment.

It's important to note that Bo-to-x does not directly heal or eliminate wrinkles permanently. Instead, it provides a temporary improvement in their appearance. The effects typically last for several months, and then the muscle activity gradually returns, which may necessitate additional treatments to maintain the desired results. The frequency of Bo-to-x treatments varies, but it is commonly recommended to receive injections every 5 to 6 months to maintain the desired results.

Remember, it's crucial to consult with a qualified dermatologist to discuss your specific concerns, receive proper guidance, and ensure safe and effective use of Bo-to-x for wrinkle reduction.

Pla-te-let-rich Pl-as-ma therapy

Pla-te-let-rich Pl-as-ma (P-R-P) therapy is a procedure that is used for skin rejuvenation and anti-ageing purposes. It involves extracting a small amount of your blood, processing it to concentrate the Pla-te-lets, and then injecting the resulting Pla-te-let-rich Pl-as-ma into specific areas of the skin.

Pla-te-lets contain growth factors and other bioactive substances that promote the following :

  • tissue repair
  • stimulate collagen production
  • improve skin texture and tone

When injected with P-R-P, these growth factors can stimulate cellular regeneration and collagen synthesis, leading to improved skin quality and a more youthful appearance.

The frequency of anti-ageing and skin rejuvenation P-R-P treatments can vary depending on individual needs and goals. Typically, a series of treatments is recommended, with intervals of several weeks to a few months between each session. Your dermatologist or medical professional will assess your skin condition and provide personalized guidance on the optimal frequency of P-R-P treatments based on your specific situation.

It's worth noting that the effectiveness of P-R-P therapy for anti-ageing and skin rejuvenation may vary among individuals. Consulting with a qualified dermatologist or healthcare provider can help determine if P-R-P therapy suits you and provide personalized advice regarding its usage and frequency based on your unique circumstances.

Profhilo

Profhilo is a type of injectable treatment used for skin rejuvenation and anti-ageing purposes. It is a hyaluronic acid-based product that stimulates collagen and elastin production, improves skin hydration, and provides overall skin tightening effects.

Profhilo is unique in its composition and injection technique. It is injected into specific points on the face, typically in five points on each side, to allow for optimal diffusion and distribution of the product within the skin. This helps to improve skin elasticity, firmness, and texture.

The treatment usually consists of two sessions, with a four-week interval between them. Some individuals may require additional sessions based on their specific needs and desired results. The effects of Profhilo can last for several months, but maintenance treatments may be recommended to sustain the desired outcome.

Advantages of Profhilo

Profhilo is known to have several effects on the skin, including:

  1. Skin Hydration: Profhilo contains hyaluronic acid, which is a natural component of the skin that helps retain moisture. When injected, it attracts and holds water, improving skin hydration and overall skin health.
  2. Collagen and Elastin Stimulation: Profhilo stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, which are essential proteins responsible for maintaining skin structure and elasticity. Profhilo can help improve skin firmness, tightness, and smoothness by promoting collagen and elastin synthesis.
  3. Skin Rejuvenation: The combination of improved hydration and increased collagen and elastin production can lead to overall skin rejuvenation. It can help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and skin sagging, resulting in a more youthful and refreshed appearance.
  4. Skin Tone and Texture Improvement: Profhilo can help improve skin tone and texture by enhancing skin elasticity and promoting a more even skin tone. It may also help reduce the visibility of acne scars or other superficial skin imperfections.
  5. Overall Skin Quality: Profhilo aims to improve the overall quality of the skin, enhancing its radiance, brightness, and smoothness. It can provide a more revitalized and healthier appearance to the treated areas.

It's important to consult with a qualified dermatologist or medical professional to determine if Profhilo is suitable for your skin concerns and to receive personalized advice on the treatment frequency and other considerations. They can assess your skin condition and provide guidance based on your individual needs and goals.

Skin Boosters

Skin boosters are a type of injectable treatment used to hydrate and improve the skin's overall quality. They typically consist of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps maintain moisture and promote skin elasticity.

When skin boosters are injected into the skin, hyaluronic acid acts as a humectant, attracting and retaining water molecules, thereby increasing skin hydration. This helps to restore moisture levels and improve skin texture, elasticity, and firmness.

The effects of skin boosters go beyond mere hydration. They can also stimulate collagen production, contributing to skin rejuvenation and a more youthful appearance. Collagen provides structural support to the skin, helping to improve skin tone, reduce fine lines, and enhance skin elasticity.

The exact effects of skin boosters may vary among individuals, as each person's skin condition and response to treatment can differ. Typically, a series of sessions is recommended for optimal results, with intervals of a few weeks between treatments. Maintenance treatments may be necessary to sustain the desired outcome.

It's essential to consult with a qualified dermatologist or medical professional to determine if skin boosters are suitable for your skin concerns and to receive personalized advice on the treatment plan and expected effects based on your specific needs. They can assess your skin condition and provide guidance tailored to your individual situation.

Fillers

Fillers are injectables and are commonly used as an anti-ageing procedure to address volume loss, wrinkles, and facial contouring. They are substances that add volume and structure to the skin surface, helping to restore youthful facial contours and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and folds that develop due to the loss of collagen as one ages. The most commonly used, effective and safe fillers are hyaluronic acid-based.

When can one get fillers done?

There is no age but rather indications to get a filler done. As and when they arise, one should not delay and get the procedure done as soon as possible, as this ensures the least product requirement and best results.

  1. For Reducing Wrinkles: Fillers can be used to soften the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, particularly in areas like
    • nasolabial folds (lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth)
    • marionette lines (lines from the corners of the mouth to the chin)
    • static wrinkles that do not go away with Bo-to-x
  2. Volume Restoration: They can restore lost volume in areas such as
    • cheeks,
    • temples,
    • under-eye hollows
  3. Lip Enhancement: Fillers can add volume and definition to the lips, specially in the case of :
    • Thin lips
    • Asymmetrical lips
    • Lip creases
    • Dry lips
  4. Facial Contouring: Fillers can be used to contour the following:
    • jawline
    • chin
    • Midface

Treatment response and efficacy of fillers?

They vary depending on factors such as :

  • the type of filler used,
  • the area treated,
  • individual characteristics
    • Metabolic rate
    • Occupation.

Results are typically immediate, and volume and wrinkle reduction improvements can be observed, while complete effect can take upto 2weeks to show. However, the duration of the effects varies among individuals and depends on factors like the type of filler and metabolism.

Safety is an important consideration when using fillers. Hyaluronic acid fillers are generally considered safe when administered by a qualified medical professional. It is crucial to consult with a qualified dermatologist or healthcare provider to ensure proper assessment, treatment planning, and safe administration of fillers.

Each individual's response to fillers can differ, and it is essential to have a thorough consultation with a medical professional who can evaluate your specific needs, discuss potential risks and benefits, and create a treatment plan tailored to your goals.
